Wrexham’s pubs and clubs have reiterated their commitment to providing a safe environment for people looking to enjoy the town’s night life.

At the last meeting of Nightsafe, representatives from Wrexham’s licensed premises voted unanimously to adopt the Best Bar None scheme in the town.

Best Bar None is a voluntary scheme, which was originally adopted by Greater Manchester Police in 2003, it is now recognised across the UK and internationally as a standard of excellence in the licensing trade.

Best Bar None rewards best practice at safe licensed venues and also provides the local Authority and the police with the opportunity to work in positive partnership with the licensed trade. The scheme recognises responsible operators and helps create good practice across the licensing trade.

Andy Lewis, Head of Housing and Public Protection said: “As part of their licensing agreement, licensees in Wrexham have to demonstrate that they comply with a range of standards.

“These standards include the provision of CCTV and registered door supervisors at premises, implementation of proof of age schemes and participation in the radio link scheme which improves communications with oolice and other emergency services.

“These standards will be further enhanced by the Best Bar None scheme to ensure that licensed premises in the town centre are recognised as safe and well managed venues encouraging people to visit and enjoy a great night out.”
