Prospective students are being given the chance to find out more about courses at Wrexham Glyndŵr University at an experience day this week.

The event offers the opportunity for people interested in pursuing a university degree to get a taste of what it’s like to be a student at the University, to meet staff and current students – and to ask questions about the course they intend to follow.

Taking place on Wednesday 23rd May at the University’s Plas Coch campus, the experience day will offer a wide range of events, including a forensic science session setting out the science behind crime solving, drama workshops with practical drama games and a television/ recording studio session in a state of the art media centre.

Hands-on experiences include a flight simulator session, where those taking part can find out what it would be like to fly an aircraft; a testing workshop in the University’s chemical laboratories; and virtual reality demonstrations with computing academics.

Expert lectures during the day include the art and science of Public Health, an introduction to Education, Families and Childhood Studies aimed at those interested in a career in education and a meet the lecturer session in the Built Environment Lab – ideal for anyone interested in a career in Construction Management, Architectural Design, Civil Engineering, or Housing.

Julie Cowley, head of recruitment and admissions, said: “We’re opening the doors for anyone who wants to come down and find out more about what’s on offer.

“There are a range of events throughout the afternoon, with something to suit all tastes. Coming to University is all about new experiences, and our experience day helps offer a taste of what our courses can offer you.

“Wrexham Glyndŵr University is a friendly, vibrant and supportive community and our staff will be on hand to help answer any questions you may have.

“They can show you some of the things you’ll get to take part in studying with us, talk you through what to expect – and listen to what you have to say.

“Don’t worry, too, if you are thinking of starting this September – it’s not too late to apply and we can talk to you about your options on the day.”

Scheduled activities are taking place throughout the day. To see the full programme, book your place or find out more visit the Wrexham Glyndŵr University website.
