Wrexham Glyndwr University to offer short courses in New Year aimed at boosting region’s business skills

A series of tailored short courses aimed at helping boost businesses will begin at Wrexham Glyndwr University this year.-

The courses, which are being offered entirely online, have been designed to develop core business skills, helping participants begin the New Year equipped with fresh skills which can be used to transform their business – or boost their career.

Among the suite of short courses on offer are two which are designed to boost individual skills, in e-commerce and public speaking – as well as two which will examine how businesses can boost their resilience and adapt to change.

The first of these courses, Change Management and Organisational Change, begins on January 18. It introduces theories of change management and organisational change, and through a series of lectures, supporting material, asynchronous tutorials and more, helps learners to build and implement a change toolkit, helping their organisation and the people in it deal with change in a fast-paced world.

Charlotte Oram-Gettings, Business Development Manager at Wrexham Glyndwr University, said: “While 2021 looks set to bring better news, with the first wave of vaccinations already underway, it is likely, too, to be another year which will see profound and lasting change for businesses of all sizes.

“This short course has been shaped by an industry expert, alongside leading lecturers on Glyndwr’s business degrees, and will equip participants with the tools and techniques they need to help their organisation respond more effectively to change.”

A second course, due to begin on February 1, will look at Business Resilience and how individuals can equip themselves and their organisations to withstand crises and risks, withstand business shocks and uncertainty, and lead their company’s recovery.

Charlotte added: “2020 tested many companies’ resilience – and as we build back better in 2021, this course will help structure both individual and organisational approaches with the certainty they need to face uncertain times.”

Two additional courses are also set to begin in the New Year, offering those who undertake them the opportunity to start 2021 by developing fresh skills.

After a year which saw a major growth in e-commerce and online shopping as purchasers adapted to ever-changing public health guidance, the E Commerce and the Online Customer course – which launches at Glyndwr on January 11- leads its participants through all they need to build a digital marketing plan and boost online performance for their organisation. Over the course of eight weeks, participants will learn about everything from SEO – search engine optimisation – to the best way to drive digital conversions

A podcast-driven online course beginning on January 18 will give its students an Introduction to Public Speaking.

Lead by business expert Mike Corcoran – with contributions from a wide range of industry figures – the course will examine everything from beating nerves to building narrative and structure, and from the delivery techniques needed for effective public speaking to the importance of listening and questions.

With live seminars, discussion forums, one-to-one sessions and more, the course is an invaluable eight week primer in becoming a better public speaker.
