A new-look celebration of health and wellbeing which aims to encourage more women across Wales and the North West to enjoy exercise and relax, will take place in Wrexham next month.

The inaugural Wrexham Ladies Fitness Festival will play host to a variety of classes and sessions from salsa to roller-skating, yoga and meditation, led by instructors from across the region.

The festival will take place at Wrexham Glyndwr University on October 1st.

Founded by Sasha Kenney – who organised a hoola hoop world record attempt at the University two years ago – the event includes an active zone, mind and body area, chill out space, healthy food and drink and family-based activities.

“The fitness festival has been a success over past years, but this autumn we wanted to do something a little different,” said Sasha.

“Of course, everyone is welcome to join us, but the emphasis will be on encouraging more women to get involved.

“The number of ladies getting fit is on the increase but we are still way behind the men and that needs to change.”

There will be over 28 “fun-filled” activities led by instructors, and personal trainers and nutritionists will also be on hand to give advice.

There is also a massage and relaxation area for those who need to unwind, and giant games for the children.

The day concludes with a Clubbercise Glow Party, suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

“That’s the most important message I want to get across, that nothing on the day will be out of bounds or too difficult to take part in,” added Sasha.

“Fitness and health are about inclusivity, there for all, and that’s very much been the festival’s ethos since the beginning.”
