This weekend a team of volunteers from the Wrexham Foodbank will be in Tesco Extra and Cefn Mawr Tesco collecting food from the foodbank.

The Wrexham Foodbank have teamed up with foodbank charity Trussell Trust, and will be in both Tesco stores from Friday November 29th to Sunday December 1st.

The event aims to collect essential goods that will allow the organisation to feed those who are most in need, especially in the run-up to the Christmas period.

When customers enter the store they will be given a list of selected items, and will be asked to pick up an item of ‘long-life food’ before donating when they’ve finished their shop. ‘Long-life items’ include cereal, tinned foods, tea, coffee and milk.

The Mayor of Wrexham will also be present at the Tesco Extra store at 3pm on Friday.

The Foodbank are also planning to send out Christmas boxes and are encouraging customers to pick up the odd Christmas pudding or chocolate bar in addition to the usual items on the shopping list.
