The Council has just sent the following ‘snow update’ through giving details of their efforts over the weekend and information on bin collections:

Staff have been out gritting and ploughing since 6 pm on Thursday 21st March and have continued on a rota basis since then. The Council has used all its 11 gritters, fitted with snow ploughs, which have been dealing with our key routes. Area Managers have been working with the staff to ensure the co-ordination of operations and prioritising resources. Obviously the Council has a winter service operational plan in place which we are continuing to work to.

The Council has also employed outside contractors which has allowed us to hire 7 JCBs and 2 Bob Cats and other specialist equipment, which have also been working non stop. The problem has been compounded by the amount of trees brought down due to the weight of the snow and also abandoned vehicles.

We are currently working with local farmers in isolated areas to ensure they can get to their live stock.

The sheer volume of snow that has fallen has made the job particularly difficult.

Bin collections for Wednesday 27th March:
Wrexham Council will be doubling its efforts to empty black bins and recycling on Wednesday following recent adverse weather.

All Green Bin collections have been suspended and staff will no be joining the general waste collections and the snow clearing efforts.

The following areas are due for collection tomorrow –

Brynteg
Llay (Those who are due for Black Bin collection only)
Gresford (Those who are due for Black Bin collection only)
Pendine/ Gwersyllt

Attempts to clear side roads and other roads will be done prior to bin collections.

We apologise but we are having problems accessing properties in the Brymbo and Bwlchgwyn areas and we are not able to collect waste as scheduled. We will let you know as soon as this changes.
