Wrexham Council Warns Of Traders Misusing Its Logo
Trading Standards at Wrexham Council is warning residents to be cautious after they received a large number of enquiries regarding the appearance of a logo very similar to the Wrexham CBC logo on a trade flyer posted through doors in the area.
Many people have queried whether the appearance of the logo indicates that the business is endorsed by the council.
However, Wrexham Council confirmed that it has not approved the use of their logo by other organisations or businesses and it’s use by anyone else is illegal.
Trading Standards has serious concerns that residents may be misled and may think that the use of the logo may mean that the council offers some kind of endorsement, approval or guarantee in connection with the business.
Trading Standards offers the following advice to residents thinking of having work done on their property:
• Be very cautious about uninvited approaches from traders, whether by phone, post or on the doorstep
• Shop around for quotes
• Seek recommendations from friends, family or neighbours
• Look for endorsement by a reputable trade association or professional body and check claims of membership
• Ensure you have the full business name and address of any trader you are thinking of using
• Check beforehand how and when you will be expected to pay
