Wrexham Community First Responders Launches New Team
A local branch of rural Community First Responders has expanded its services by launching a new team for Wrexham.
Last week Wrexham Rural Community First Responders launched their new team in the Bangor on Dee Area, which is to be known as Wrexham Rural East.
The Wrexham Rural Community Response Team are a group are a non-profit, unpaid volunteers who work under the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust. The group cover Brymbo, Bwlchgwyn and Llandegla
The team have recently received two new Zoll Defibrillators donated by Brymbo and Bwlchgwyn Community Council and have also received a large donation from a private donor in the Minera/Bwlchgwyn area which will help the team to source valuable equipment.
Established in 2013 the Wrexham Rural Community Response Team has continued to grow and play an important role in the local community. In the last 9 months the team have responded to over 90 emergency calls and are looking to recruit more team members, subject to the Welsh Ambulance Service being able to provide dates for the next training course.
Team Co-ordinator, Terence Brownhill said: “Our intention is to establish another new team covering Holt, Rossett, Burton and Marford and will be known as Wrexham Rural North.
“We have gone a long way in nine months and are looking to become one of the largest and best equipped CFR teams in Wales with the ability to provide extensive cover to the Welsh Ambulance Service and ultimately our community.”
