A team of Wrexham businesses and artists have teamed up with the aim of brightening up another part of Wrexham’s Bank Street.

Situated on Wrexham’s Bank Street, the new piece of street art was created by the Wrexham Building Art Project, a local group born out of local businesses, artists and members of the public with a desire to put art on the buildings of Wrexham.

Project volunteer lead, Wayne Price painted the artwork along with Bank Street Social’s Andy Gallanders and fellow Bank Street shop owner, Aaron Purvor of ‘Geckos’ over the weekend.

Wayne Price said: “It’s great to complete another project and it’s even better to bring a spot of colour to Bank Street.

“As we were painting, everyone said they loved it. Everyone from 8 to 80, many said they wanted more in Wrexham.

“As well as thanking Andy and Aaron, I must thank the support from the ‘Wrexham Business Group Community Interest Company’, Wrexham Council for their contribution via their ‘Together in Wrexham’ Enabling Grant Fund for their expertise and materials plus both Offa and Rhosddu Community Councils for their support.”

Bank Street Social Owner Andy Gallanders said: “The response from the public particularly on social media has been phenomenal.

“Everyone loves the artwork and I’ve enjoyed being part of the creative. It’s been a fun weekend putting this together.

“Aaron, myself and the other shopkeepers of Bank Street all hope it will generate extra footfall.”

It is the second piece of artwork to be painted on the street, with both Wayne and Aaron involved in creating a street mural to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War on Marubbi’s cafe.

Aaron Purvor who before worked on the First World War street mural said, “I love being part of this project that brings both pride and colour to the Wrexham. I’m looking forward to making more artworks in Wrexham happen.”

When asked if they had any other plans for street projects, Wayne Price added: “We hopefully have one more project on Bank Street in the coming months and another one not far from here.

“If anyone would like to become part of the project please search for the Wrexham Building Art Project on Facebook.”
