A cardiac rehabilitation nurse from Wrexham has raised thousands for charity after taking on the London Marathon.

Jessica Norman, 30, who works in the Cardiac Rehab team for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board went from not being able to run a mile two years ago to completing the 26 mile challenge last month.

The dedicated nurse works with Cardiac rehab patients all over Wrexham and Flintshire helping patients to recover from cardiac events and lead active, healthy lives.

Her efforts saw her raise nearly £3,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

Jessica said, “My ultimate dream has always been to run the London Marathon, although I never actually believed it would happen.

“Working with people, and listening to the stories of those who have been through life changing cardiac events as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist, has inspired me to strive for my dreams as well as to improve my own physical fitness and health.

“I would like to thank everyone for their generosity. I’m delighted that I’ve gone way past my fundraising target.

“I know the money will help the British Heart Foundation and the important work they do with patients.

“I’d encourage anyone who is thinking about entering a marathon to just go for it! I never thought I’d be able to do it but with lots of patience, perseverance and training I got there and it was one of the best experiences of my life.”
