A Wrexham binman was shot in the arm with a pellet gun whilst out working in Gwersyllt this afternoon.

The incident took place on Wheatsheaf Lane at around 1pm as the Wrexham Council refuse collector, believed to be in his 20s, was collecting bins.

The shot is alleged to have been fired from a nearby flat window.

6 police cars and the North Wales Police helicopter attended the scene.

One local source claimed that a child had previously been shot with a BB gun in the area and that a bus window had also been shot at.

Councillor for Gwersyllt West Arfon Jones said: “The worker was collecting bins outside the kebab shop when he felt something hit his arm. The pellet had penetrated his jacket and left a mark on his arm.”

“I totally condemn this type of behaviour, a council worker should be able to go about their job like anybody else, without fear of being shot.

“I hope the police are swift in bringing whoever is responsible to justice.”
