A Wrexham band have been awarded “International Standout Act” for their performance at a major North American music festival this year.

The Roseville Band travelled to the NXNE 2012 festival in Toronto last month and this week have been handed the accolade by the festival in recognition of the huge impact they made at this years’ event.

Following an extremely busy twelve months for the band, which saw them tour and release a second album in successive years, The Roseville Band are now developing a growing fan-base across the pond in North America.

Earlier this year they performed in Canada as part of the Canadian Music Week conference, where they showcased alongside hundreds of acts from across the globe, including the likes of The Temper Trap and Slash amongst others.

The experience brought them to the attention of a number of senior figures within the industry, culminating in an invitation to showcase at the NXNE festival.

NXNE 2012 was headlined by The Flaming Lips; and with 800 bands and over 2,000 music industry delegates in attendance, it provided the band with a fantastic opportunity to showcase their music.

They played six shows in Toronto as part of the festival, whipping up a buzz amongst industry delegates and journalists alike; with one leading Canadian publication naming the band “The standout band of NXNE!.”

They’re pictured above playing a rooftop show during the festival.

On receiving the award, frontman Andy Jones said: “It was an amazing festival for us to be a part of, so to be given this award by the festival is mind blowing, considering the hundreds of bands that were involved!”

The award also came with a £1,000 prize, which Andy said the band will be putting to good use in the near future: “We’re currently preparing for our 3rd album, so the prize will really help with the recording budget.”

The band are now in advanced discussions with leading Canadian music industry figures and hope to make a further announcement regarding this in the near future.
