Football fans will once again be able to tune into Calon FM this season for live commentary of all of Wrexham AFC’s matches – home and away!

The community radio station teamed up with the Wrexham AFC Media Team last season to broadcast matches for the first time – attracting listeners from not only Wrexham and North Wales, but all over the world for live updates.

On match days listeners can hear 15 minutes of pre-match build-up followed by live, uninterrupted commentary and post match analysis. There are also regular half time features looking not only at current issues but also at wider aspects of the club and its place in the community.

This year, Calon FM are offering the chance for local businesses to sponsor the coverage and engage with a large local audience. A number of packages are available ranging from monthly to full season coverage. Sponsors will benefit from exposure across multiple platforms including on air, online and on social media.

Katherine Wade, Calon FM station editor, said: “Last season we were extremely proud to be able to offer our listeners the chance to follow all of the matches with us, so we’re thrilled to be able to be doing the same this season. We’ve had wonderful feedback from our listeners about the commentary.

“Over the year’s we’ve worked with many local businesses, so we’re very pleased so be able to offer them this unique opportunity to reach out to our listeners through sponsorship of the coverage.”

Carl Hogan, Wrexham AFC media manager, added: “Wrexham AFC’s Media Team are delighted to extend our commentary coverage with Calon FM for the second successive season. Being a community based club, we are extremely proud to enjoy a continuation of coverage with our local community based radio station.

“Advertising with Calon FM is the perfect way for us to further develop our commentary service while advertisers will benefit from reaching our large audience.”

Leading the team, Mark Griffiths has been commentating on Wrexham matches since the late 1980s. A one-time Wales schoolboy international, he is joined by a strong team of co-commentators bringing their insights to every commentary.

The matches are broadcast on Calon FM (on 105fm and via the listen online stream), Mixlr, Youtube and on Calon FM’s channel on the mobile app Tunein.
