Would you pay 20p to use the public toilets in Wrexham?
That is one of the options being explored by Wrexham Council as part of its Difficult Decisions consultation.
As readers will already be aware, Wrexham Council are looking to make £13 million of cuts over the next two years. Options are also being explored to generate additional income for the local authority.
One option put forward in the budget consultation is the introduction of a 20p fee to use the public toilets in Trevor, Chirk and Froncysyllte.
Wrexham Council manage several public conveniences across the county borough. A charge is already in place for the facilities on Henblas Street and St Giles Way.
However it is now being proposed that a similar 20p charge is introduced for the conveniences listed above to help cover the cost of cleaning and staffing.
It is estimated this could generate an extra £5,000 a year to help us manage the facilities.
There are a number of ways you can let Wrexham Council know what you think of the proposals:

– There will be more detailed consultations conducted with service users for some of these proposals – which will also contribute to the decision making process.

The responses submitted will help the decision making process for the new budget in January / February 2018.
