Work Starts on £2m Improvements at Ysgol Bryn Alyn
£2 million of improvement works at a Wrexham high school are underway.
The work at Ysgol Bryn Alyn, Gwersyllt, will see the school benefit from five new classrooms and a large, flexible learning area.
The £2 million project will be undertaken by Read Construction and are expected to be completed by the Autumn. Preparation works that have already taken place on the site include the demolition of the home economic, ICT and art building.
A refurbished design technology block with home economics is now in place.
Other improvements to the site include the provision of an open courtyard and a new pupil entrance and administration block.
The works on Ysgol Bryn Alyn are being undertaken as part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education Programme which provides 50% of the funding for schools improvements.
Wrexham Council provide the remaining 50% of the funding required. The Programme aims to transform the learning experience of students ensuring they are taught in classrooms with the technologies and facilities needed to deliver a 21st Century curriculum.
Improvement works have recently finished at Ysgol Plas Coch, which has benefited from three new classrooms, toilets and a kitchen as part of the scheme.
A total of £10 million has also been invested in Caia Park to replace Hafod y Wern and Gwenfro primary schools.
A further £9.3 million investment is also underway at Penycae Primary, Gwersyllt primary, Clywedog and Bryn Alyn secondary school
