A busy road near Wrexham Town Centre was temporarily closed this morning following a road traffic collision.

The incident, which took place shortly before 8:45am on Holt Road involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

‘ManicWelshGirl’ on Twitter told Wrexham.com that the RTC took place near the traffic lights at the back of ASDA.

Members of North Wales Police also took to Twitter advising people to stay away from the area. Inspector Paul Wycherley tweeted to say: “Road collision, Holt Road @wrexham. We are on the scene but please avoid delays.”

Officer Wesley Williams also tweeted: “RTC on Holt Road @wrexham Police and Ambulance are in attendance the road will be closed in due course”

The road has since reopened, however there are still some traffic delays in the area as a result of the incident.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.35am to a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Holt Road in Wrexham. We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, and a woman in her 60s was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.”

Thanks to Alex for sending us the above photo of traffic in the area as a result of the collision.
