RSPCA Cymru has issued an appeal for witnesses after two pugs were seen being thrown from a car in the Wrexham area in what has been described as a “disgusting way to treat animals”

A member of the public witnessed the incident – with the dogs reportedly dumped from the vehicle at traffic lights, on a junction as you depart Coedpoeth and join the A483.

The red Sedan-type car is then said to have departed at speed towards Oswestry. It is alleged two young men were in the car – but on-lookers were unable to note down the vehicle’s registration plate.

It is understood the incident took place at 11:15am.

Both pugs were taken into the care of the RSPCA and are in good health despite the ordeal. They were initially found dirty, but were bathed by members of the public before being collected by the RSPCA, and had no visible injuries.

One is microchipped to an owner in Essex, and lines of inquiry continue – while the other was not chipped.

Anyone in the local area with information is urged to contact the charity’s inspectorate appeal line.

RSPCA inspector Rachael Davies said: “This would have been a very scary and traumatic experience for these two dogs, with reports claiming they were chucked from the red Sedan-type vehicle.

“Put simply, this is a disgusting way to treat animals. Fortunately, neither dog sustained injuries and they are now safely in the care of RSPCA Cymru.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact our inspectorate appeal line, on 0300 123 8018. Someone must know something about where these pug dogs have come from, or who could have discarded them from the car like this.”
