Explore Your Archives: He’s Behind You! Wrexham Pantomimes

As part of the celebration about the Explore Your Archives campaign, Wrexham Archives & Local Studies Service has created a ‘story box’ of photos and documents all about pantomimes in Wrexham, to show people the kinds of things they can discover in their local archive.

Parents from local churches will be hosting a Clothes Sale from 0-adults, along with some household items. All items will be 20p. The sale is for community benefit for Wrexham families.

RLWC2013 Quarter- Final, Group A Winner v Group D Winner

The winner of Group A v Winner Group D. It’s the chance to experience the excitement of Rugby League World Cup 2013 right here on your doorstep in Wrexham at the quarter-final match being held at Glyndwr Racecourse Stadium during this high profile tournament. This will be your last chance to see the RWLC in Wrexham, so grab it while you can.

Wrexham Tenants Service Improvement Group (Empty Property & Voids)

Any Wrexham tenants who are interested in improving the quality of Housing Services can be part of a small group of tenants and officers looking at service standards and performance. Each meeting last no more than a couple of hours and transport can be arranged. This is event is suitable for 18+

Wrexham Christmas Lights Switch On 2013

It’s that time of year again when the people of Wrexham embrace the festivities at the Christmas light switch on. This year the cast of Glyndwr’s University’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ pantomime will be in attendance to switch the Christmas lights on and entertain the crowds. Along with a set from musician KAMEELION and The MayDays. Thursday 21st also marks the start of late night shopping in the town, so it’s an ideal evening to head out hunting for some Christmas gifts.

This year the event is being organised in coordination with The Foundry, Wrexham.com and Lateral Arc.

Folk: The Role of Tradition in Contemporary Art Practice

Led by Desdemona McCannon , Senior Lecturer Art History and Contextual Studies at MMU & Yadzia Williams, Senior Lecturer in Design Communication at Glyndwr University. This exciting event will coincide with the Oriel Wrecsam exhibitions, ‘The wolves are running’ and ‘and Also’, and will examine the way ‘lore’ is illustrated and the link between documenting folk art and using it in creative practice.

European Week Of Waste Reduction

The 18th to the 24th November 2013 is European Week of Waste Reduction. To celebrate, the Waste Strategy Team will be in Marks & Spencer, Wrexham to answer any questions, give advice and also tips on how to minimise your waste. FREE recycling equipment will also be available from the team for use with the Recycle with Michael scheme.

Make a Difference Extravaganza Concert

The evening will be an extravaganza of music, singing and dancing through 150 years depicting many of the key events during the period including World War 1 and 2, Gresford Disaster, the creation of local Health and Educational establishments etc along with sketches and other pieces reflecting everyday life. Our theme will be how organisations provide helping hands to MAD-make a difference in the lives of others.
