“Wendy house” at Wrexham primary school damaged following fire
A wooden outbuilding at a Wrexham primary school has been damaged following a fire in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to the incident at 1am at Ysgol Plas Coch.
The fire, which was at a wooden outbuilding “wendy house” at the school, was extinguished by fire fighters before it spread to the main building.
The incident is currently being treated as arson, however police say “discarded cigarettes located at the scene could suggest a reckless / careless act contributed to the fire.”
Wrexham Town Inspector, Luke Hughes, said: “Incidents such as this are thankfully very rare, however it is clearly very upsetting for the school and children who have just returned and crave familiar surroundings.
“Should anyone have any information please contact PC 3352 Owain Lewis at NWP on 101 or via our chat facility quoting Z050541.”
@NickRiptide @wrexham Disgusting behaviour – whoever set this on fire should be utterly ashamed of themselves. I am sure that the children will be quite bewildered as to why this has happened. I hope that it doesn’t affect them too much.
