Welsh cancer charity Tenovus are launching a pioneering choir project in Wrexham this coming Monday.

Three years ago the charity created their first choir, and undertook research which later proved singing to be beneficial for cancer patients. In addition to other benefits, being part of the choir reduced their feelings of isolation, anxiety and pain.

Following the pilot, the charity extended the initiative and now run seven choirs around the South and West of Wales. This coming Monday (1st July) they’ll be launching their first choir in North Wales here in Wrexham. Choirs comprise of cancer patients, survivors, carers and people bereaved through cancer.

Tenovus’ ‘Sing with Us’ choirs meet weekly, singing a range of pop songs from Queen to Katrina & The Waves, Take That to Tina Turner! Rehearsals are lively and upbeat, with the focus on learning music at a pace that suits everyone.

Wrexham Sing with Us choir will meet every Monday (starting 1 July) at Gresford Memorial Hall (Blue Room), off High Street, Gresford, Wrexham LL12 8PS 6.30-8pm

If you would like to join the choir then come along to the next rehearsal, or if you want to find out more information, call our Freephone Cancer Support Line 0808 808 1010, visit www.tenovus.org.uk/singwithus or email [email protected]
