Two Welsh acts have been selected to perform at a prestigious festival in Spain this month.

Mercat de Música Viva de Vic (MMVV) is a four day music industry showcase festival based in the city of Vic, Catalonia. It celebrates emerging acts from Spain and the Mediterranean, but also showcases international acts to the global industry audience who attend.

Thanks to a partnership between FOCUS Wales, MMVV Festival, and Catalan Arts, festival booker Oriol Roca was able to travel to FOCUS Wales in Wrexham last May to experience the talent Welsh acts had to offer at the festival.

As a result Oriol selected two artists to perform in Spain next month based on their performances he saw at FOCUS Wales.

North Walian Jack Found and Cardiff based Gareth Bonnello, aka The Gentle Good, will each be performing two showcases at the extra special 30th edition of the Catalonian festival.

FOCUS Wales Co-Founder Neal Thompson says,
“We’re really pleased to be involved in the 30th anniversary of this great event.

“It’s brilliant to be able to work with our partners at Catalan Arts and MMVV to bring new Welsh talent to perform at such a prestigious event, and we’re looking forward to developing this exchange in the future.”

Performer applications for FOCUS Wales 2019 are now open to artists worldwide via www.focuswales.com 245 acts performed at the 2018 festival, with artists traveling from across the globe to take part.

FOCUS Wales 2019 takes places 16th, 17th, 18th May across various venues in Wrexham, North Wales. Full 3 day wristbands for admission to all FOCUS Wales events are available at the FOCUS Wales website.
