The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Wrexham with gusts of over 40mph set to hit the area tomorrow morning.

The warning, which is in place between 5am and 5pm tomorrow on Tuesday, covers across north and mid Wales and parts of England and Scotland.

It comes after strong winds over the weekend and today caused by Storm Atiyah – the first named storm of the season.

Locally gusts are expected to reach up to 42mph by 11am tomorrow morning before dropping to 22mph later in the evening. There is also heavy rain forecast throughout the day.

The Met Office say: “Very strong south to southwesterly winds are expected to develop across parts of Wales, England and Scotland during Tuesday.

“Winds will strengthen through the morning with gusts of 50-60 mph likely inland, and 60-70 mph around some coasts and over higher ground.

“The strongest winds will probably occur ahead of an intense band of rain that is expected to move quickly eastwards during the day, winds easing once this clears.”
