Winter has arrived in Wrexham with temperatures set to drop again overnight and a weather warning in place.

The yellow warning for icy conditions, issued by the Met Office, is in force across most of Wales and the north west between 8pm tonight and 10am Sunday morning.

Wrexham is also covered by the weather warning.

Temperatures across the area have already stayed around the 5C-6C mark throughout the day, with rain throughout the day.

Elsewhere in north Wales conditions have been particularly bad, with a number of weather related incidents reported to have taken place on the A55 throughout the day.

Details released by the Met Office state: “Some surfaces will turn icy again tonight. Rain, sleet and hail showers will continue overnight and into early Sunday, with some snowfall possible in hilly areas.

“As temperatures fall, icy patches are likely to form in places, especially on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, leading to slippery surfaces and tricky driving conditions.”
