Wrexham is currently basking in glorious sunshine and enjoying another spell of summery weather – however that could be set to change looking at a current weather warning for the middle of the week.

The Met Office have today issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain with the potential risk of thunderstorms between midnight and 8pm on Wednesday.

There have been a couple of weather warnings for similar conditions in recent weeks, however Wrexham so far has dodged the worst of the weather.

The county borough is included in Wednesday’s weather warning, which is in place for most of the country.

A statement released by the Met Office reads: “Scattered thunderstorms with locally intense downpours will continue to move north across England and Wales in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“Although the thunderstorms may tend to ease from the south later in the night, further, possibly severe storms may break out again on Wednesday afternoon. These appear more likely across central and eastern parts of England. Although many places will miss the thunderstorms, there is a chance of some localised flooding of homes, businesses and roads.

“Frequent lightning may be an additional hazard with potential for disruption to power networks. Large hail may be an additional hazard on Wednesday afternoon.”

Looking ahead past the weather warning shows some cooler temperatures, with Thursday through until the weekend expected to remain around 18C.

There is some good news for fans of the hot weather, with temperatures set to peak tomorrow at 24C with another day of sunshine.
