Motorists are being reminded not to risk their lives or the lives of others by driving under the influence.

The warning comes after four motorists were caught drink driving in Wrexham town centre over the past week.

Insp Paul Wycherley said: “People are aware of the fact that we have our annual Christmas anti-drink drive campaign, but we are on the look out for these sort of offences all year.

“We work closely with our colleagues from Wrexham Council’s CCTV department.

“It is awful when we have to go to the houses of families and tell them that their loved ones have been injured or worse.”

As a result to tackle the increase of drink driving in the area officers are targeting car parks and other key areas in the locality.

Earlier this morning NWP Custody East tweeted to say that nine arrests for drink driving in Wrexham and Flintshire had been made over the weekend
