Community volunteers have been working on plans to take over the running of a Wrexham Community Centre.

A team of local volunteers are hoping to take over the running of Kingsley Circle Community Centre, which was closed by Wrexham Council last year.

Andrew Atkinson the Conservative Party Prospective MP for Wrexham wrote the business plan for the group and is working with the group to form a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Mr Atkinson said: “Caia Park Environmental Group has submitted the bid after the group joined forces with the previous management committee of the Community Centre. Dorothy Mitchell, Richard Delaney and others are working hard to get a great solution for the community.

“The Social Enterprise Team from the Assets and Economic Development Department in the Council have been a huge help and we would have struggled without their support.

“We’ve done all we can as a group and now we hope we’re successful and can run the centre for Caia Park.”

Yesterday the group submitted their business plan to Wrexham Council and now they wait to hear if they’ve been successful in their bid to run the centre on a voluntary basis for the benefit of residents of Caia Park and the wider area.
