This is our video documentary of the event held on Friday evening on Llwyn Isaf outside the Guildhall celebrating two olympians – Chris Bartley, and Tom James – the latter receiving Freeman of Wrexham status!

To the sound of the Wrexham Community Choir we talk to local MP Ian Lucas , Cllr Bob Dutton, WCBC Leisure team , local residents, ‘Gamesmakers’ including Rob Davies, local history legend Bob Gray, Brickfield football club, plus of course silver medalist Chris Bartley and Double Gold Medalist now Freeman of Wrexham Tom James MBE:

You can view further pictures and a report from the evening here.

Wrexham.com & The Olympics – Coverage of ‘Firsts’:

This wraps up Wrexham.com’s coverage of the Olympics and Wrexham, which included many firsts for us: first to report the torch was coming to town, the first to report we would have an olympic team here, the only ones to report a protest at the torch relay in town, report with video of the st giles bells marking the start of the olympics, first to report the change in opening hours via a national olympic policy.

Plus of course first reports online with the results of Chris Bartley & Tom James races on the day! The latter meaning Wrexham got a gold postbox – of course we were first down and had a report and video up first! With the council’s celebration we published what were able to in advance, and within seconds of the embargo being lifted we were first with all the details…! Of course, Friday evening saw us with the first report as you would expect!

We would like to say a huge thankyou for all who have helped, especially Leighton Cox who’s video skills are awesome!
