Vandals Leave Cricket Club Pitch With ‘Considerable’ Damage

The outfield of a local cricket club has been left with ‘considerable’ damage after vandals drove a vehicle across the pitch, leaving tyre marks and

The damage was found on Saturday 29th August when members of Gweryllt Cricket Club arrived at the site, ahead of a match due to take place later than afternoon.

As a result of the vandalism the turf on the outfield and the square had been badly damaged, with tyre marks left across a large section of the pitch. Parts of the turf have also been pulled up and shredded across the pitch.

Gwersyllt Cricket Club tweeted to say: “Arrived at the ground, what looks like a quad bike has decided to take to the outfield and square overnight and rip parts up! Thankfully the wicket is fine so today’s game will be going ahead.”

It is believed the damage to the pitch has been caused by either a quad bike or a car and an investigation into the vandalism caused to the pitch is now under way.
