One of Wrexham’s most iconic landmarks will once again be illuminated in a spectacular light display this summer as part of the ‘Underneath the Arches’ celebrations.

Organised by the Wrexham Council events team, the popular event at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct will return on Friday 14th July for the fifth year running.

As in previous years, there will also be a range of hot food outlets plus entertainment from local bands playing throughout the evening, with headline act the Rhythm Train playing up until the firework finale at 11pm.

Other artists on the bill this year include 32. Red, The Moments and Bobcat Billy’s Moonshine Mission – a local jazz band who’ve played all over Europe.

Following on from the feedback from local residents last year, the organisers have agreed to retain the limit on alcohol that can be brought into the event – with up to six cans, a bottle of wine or half a bottle of spirits per adult allowed.

Ticket prices have also been slightly reduced as the online booking fee has now been incorporated into the ticket price.

Event Manager at Wrexham Council Amanda Davies said: “Underneath the Arches continues to be warmly received each year. It is a really positive event for the area as we welcome visitors from our local communities and across the UK to enjoy this unique festival underneath our magnificent aqueduct.

“As always, we must thank Acrefair FC for hiring us their pitch and for the local Community Council for continuing to work with us to make the disruption for residents minimal.”

Tickets for the event are available now via www.underthearches.co.uk and there will be no cash entry on the evening.
