A town centre shop is closing its doors for the final time today while the future of a second clothing store hangs in the balance.

Evans, a female clothing shop on Henblas Street is set to close today after years of occupying the town centre.

In a sign in the shop window it states: “Sorry we’re closing this store, our last day is 29th November 2014. You can shop with us at: Broughton Park, BHS Chester and Outfit Ellesmere Port.”

The closure of the shop comes just months after Bodycare (which was next door) relocated to Hope Street – leaving two empty units in a row on Henblas Street.

We have contacted Arcadia for comment on why this store is closing however we have yet to receive a formal statement.

Another long standing occupier in the town centre ‘Greenwoods’ is also under threat with the store expected to close at the end January.

Greenwoods has been a well known store in the Wrexham area for a number of years, with the store specialising in suits, ties and shirts.

Staff were initially notified of a ‘period of consultation’, however a number of ‘Closing Down Sale’ signs have since appeared in the store windows.

In a letter sent to customers last week it states that the Greenwoods store lease in Wrexham expires in January 2015. The letter can be viewed in full below.

One Greenwoods customer told Wrexham.com yesterday that it is a ‘shame’ to see the store close as it is the only shop in Wrexham that provides a variety of suit sizes . The customer added that the closure of Greenwoods means he will now have to shop outside of the town centre for his suits.

We have contacted Greenwoods for further information however they were unavailable for comment.
