Gusts of 52mph are hitting the Wrexham area this afternoon as high winds move east across the area.

Gerry sent us the top image of the blocked old Wrexham to Chester Road, saying “Driving along Chester Road in Rossett towards Rossett Hall and the trees in the picture came down in front of me another minute or two and could been on my car.”

Christopher sent us the below picture, “A bit windy in Moss Valley this morning, me dad’s car not looking too good. Wrexham council responded quickly with tree surgeons. 24hr Co-op insurance will get back to me dad between 8 and 1 Monday. Fingers crossed.”

Carrie-Ann sent us the below image of a fallen tree blocking road between Plas Madoc and Pen y Cae on Plas Bennion Road.

The weather front is bringing cool temperatures with it, with tonight dropping to 0C or slightly under in some parts. A cold week is forecast, with overnight Wednesday through Thursday projected to hit -4C.

As well as trees falling due to the high winds, there has been the obligatory trampoline issues as well as documented via this tweet to us @Wrexham

Earlier trains were also affected with 45 minute delays on the Holyhead to Chester line due to the bad weather.
