Traders have called for coach parking facilities to be installed in Wrexham in order to attract more visitors to the town.

Members of the Wrexham Town Centre Forum said that the town is currently being bypassed by coach operators carrying tourists due to insufficient parking facilities.

One said: “Coach operators are bypassing Wrexham because of the facilities we’ve got here and going to Shrewsbury, Llandudno and Chester and it’s sad to see.”

Wrexham Town Centre Manager Isobel Watson highlighted that coach drivers can currently drop off passengers at Stand One at the King Street Bus Station and park at the Wrexham Arriva Depot in Caego if they pre-book.

Traders said that a greater awareness of these facilities needed to be made and that Wrexham Council should consider creating a coach only car park, similar to that which used to exist at Llwyn Isaf.

Councillor William Baldwin who represents Little Acton and runs a barber shop in the town centre was asked to look further into how coach parking facilities could be improved.

Coach parking facilities can currently be pre-booked by calling Wrexham Council on 01978 756889, parking charges are £5 per day per coach, or £10 including a coach wash.
