Wrexham’s night time economy are getting onboard a scheme that encourages people to discreetly ask for help by going to the bar and ‘Ask for Angela’.

The aim is that by using the codeword staff will be alerted to the request for help and can then help defuse any situation.

A member of Nightsafe told us: “The idea of Ask for Angela is if a vulnerable person says to staff ‘Can I speak to Angela’ or something similar, and the staff then see that person needs assistance.”

“That assistance could be escorting them into a taxi without making a fuss or something like that.”

“We are here to help keep Wrexham a safe and enjoyable night out for everybody.”

Nightsafe is a group that is made up of various agencies, door security firms, owners of licensed premises, who meet monthly to discuss and review issues arising involving the night time economy of the area.
