A donation from a Wrexham business will help support a project aimed at tackling holiday hunger among young people in the area.

Bellis Brothers Farm Shop, in Holt, have donated £645 to the Holiday Hunger project, which currently operates out of St Mark’s Church in the town. The project provides a free, filling meal to young people who would normally receive a free school meal during school holidays.

The project is run by volunteers and supported by a number of local businesses and organisations with donations and other assistance.

Wrexham MP Ian Lucas, who was among those who set the project up, accepted the cheque from Bellis Farm Shop Manager Mark Jones. He was accompanied by Art Ellinson, from St Mark’s Church, who has helped organise and run the project.

Mr Lucas said: “I am very pleased indeed that Bellis Brothers have given us this donation. It will help cover costs and keep the Holiday Hunger project running. It is heartening to see businesses like Bellis’ recognise the work that is being done in Wrexham.

“Their donation – alongside the work of the volunteers who help run the project on the ground – really does make a difference to the young people who it works with and I was pleased to be able to thank staff at Bellis’ in person.”
