In a report going before the Council’s Executive Board there are proposals to change the amount of free parking, along with increasing some parking charges in town.

The report, which you can read on this PDF, suggests proposes to change the current free parking after midday in the Peoples Market and Crescent Road to make it free parking after 3pm.

The proposed charge changes are detailed in a table in the report, with the ones we have dotted red being non transferable tickets, and those without being tickets able to be used in all Council run town centre car parks.

The logic for the changes is summed up in the report as “Whilst it is acknowledged that inflated parking charges can act as a deterrent, charges which are too low can have a similar impact through increased congestion and a lack of available parking spaces.”

Free parking in Tesco is referred to in the report, however we would stress this is not free parking and you may get sent a speculative invoice for parking there if you exceed terms stated on signage.

You can discuss the proposed changes in this forum thread on our Wrexham Forums!
