Town Centre Forum Crime Figures Round-Up
This morning North Wales Police attended the Town Centre Forum to give an update on town centre crime stats.
The stats are broken down into victim based and non-victim based. Some have high percentage growth however the figures given have the precise numbers of recorded crime. The ‘town centre’ is not strictly the shopping streets of town, so the stats do cover areas of the town that you may not consider ‘town centre’!
Notable figures include:
- Shoplifting is down by 4.2% from 158 recorded crimes year to day compared to 165 for the last year to date.
- Criminal damage and arson is up 68% from 22 recorded crimes to 37 this year to date.
- Last year to date there were two rapes, however none in this period yet there was one sexual offence.
- Violence with injury is down 21% , ten recorded crimes lower.
- Violence without injury was up 18.8%, with six more crimes than this period last year to 38 recorded crimes.
- So far in the reporting period there has been no vehicle theft, compared to two last year.
Non victim based crime was detailed, with a small increase in drug related crime with one extra instance of recorded crime in the comparable period, which results in a large sounding 7% jump in the stats.
Public disorder decreased by a whopping 54%, and the percentage this time was reflective of the numbers as its dropped from 59 instances to 27.
Overall percentages were given, although as outlined above they do not mean much, with overall victim based crime down by 5.7% and non victim based crime down by 43.2%
