Town Centre ‘Crime Updates’ Twitter Account To Launch
Residents of Wrexham can expect to be kept updated about crime in the area with the relaunch of a dedicated town centre Twitter account run by North Wales Police.
The ‘@NWPWrexhamTown’ account has been active on and off since November 2012, however Inspector Paul Wycherley said the account will be used on a regular basis from April 2015.
@NWPWrexhamTown was brought back into action on March 21st (ahead of the relaunch) to tweet updates about the Wrexham and Lincoln game in the Racecourse – appeals on stolen bikes have also been tweeted since.
The account will largely cover incidents that have taken place in the town centre and aims to keep the public updated with any incidents / updates from the town.
Inspector Wycherley told Wrexham.com the ‘@NWPWrexhamTown’ account will be run by Town Centre Sergeants who will be sending out information ’24/7 on shifts and handing over to each other once the shifts are over’.
Members of North Wales Police have been tweeting regularly for since the end of 2012 / start of 2013, with officers in Wrexham regularly tweeting appeals for stolen items, information about road closures and various incidents that have taken place across the town.
Remember – Twitter and Facebook are not the place to report crime and conventional means of reporting via the NWP Control Room on 101 or Emergency 999 should still be used.
