A new campaign has been launched to help to drive tourism across Wrexham County and North Wales during the winter season.

‘Get Wrapped Up’ targets audiences outside of Wales; particularly Liverpool & Manchester, and tells the story of the array of adventure, food and drink, accommodation, and events on offer across North Wales during the winter months.

The campaign is funded by the Regional Tourism Engagement Fund (RTEF) with Conwy County Borough Council leading the project. They are joined by Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey (IACC), and North East Wales (NEW) in efforts to boost tourism interest all year round, working closely with Visit Wales.

This joined-up approach is one of the first of its kind for the region, with all six local authorities coming together to work on one regional campaign for the benefit of North Wales; with every effort being made to drive new visitors at what can be the most challenging time of the year for tourism.

Locally there are many attractions and events for visitors during the winter period – with the likes of the Victorian Christmas Market and Christmas Village taking place in the town centre next month.

Speaking on the partnership, Joe Bickerton, Destination Manager from Wrexham County Borough Council said: “Thanks to this funding award from Welsh Government, there has already been a positive reaction to the campaign from a number of businesses across the region, with many already supporting the campaign.

“Businesses large and small across Wrexham and the wider North Wales are being urged to get involved to promote their own products and services to a wider audience this winter.”

Sam Regan, Chair of the This Is Wrexham Partnership and owner of The Lemon Tree Restaurant with Rooms in Wrexham added: “This is a great initiative to help us through the winter months – many tourism businesses, especially in the rural areas could do with that extra push this time of year.

“We’ll be supporting the campaign on our social media channels along with the rest of the This Is Wrexham Board.”
