Top British Driver Unveiled as Patron of University Motor Racing Team

British Touring Car Championship star Adam Morgan has been unveiled as Patron of a North Wales university’s motor racing team.

Adam will become a figurehead of both Glyndwr Racing and TWP Racing (Together, We Progress), a private father-and-son race team working in partnership with Wrexham Glyndwr University.

Now firmly established as one the country’s best racing drivers, 28-year-old Adam, from Blackburn is considered by many to be one of the most exciting prospects in British motorsport.

His first full year racing cars began in 2010, where he won the Ginetta G50 Team Championship, finishing sixth in the standings whilst also being selected as a finalist in the prestigious Porsche Scholarship.

Adam races for Ciceley Motorsport, a family-run team which has been competing in the British Touring Car Championship since 2013.

He said: “I’m mega-excited to become Patron of TWP, I’m looking forward to working with them and racing with the team later this year.”

Adam will drive with TWP at the12 hour Race of Remembrance at Anglesey Circuit this November.

TWP Racing is led by Jon Earp, an ex-Serviceman and Wales Air Ambulance Pilot, and includes students and lecturers from the University’s Engineering courses.

The team competes in racing across the UK and is already well into the 2017 race calendar, with third and fourth place finishes respectively at Donington and Snetterton.

“Their team ethos is everything I hope to develop within our own students at Wrexham Glyndwr University. Behind the scenes Ciceley Motorsport have played a huge part in our success to date.

He added: Today has been the culmination of two years’ work, and it’s fair to say that the support of the Ciceley Motorsport family – in particular Norman and Adam – has opened doors to us that twelve months ago we could only dream of.

“From oils and lubricants to the awning that provides us our race weekend home, all those contacts have come through Big Norm; in terms of our own aspirations we really couldn’t find a better team to try and emulate than Ciceley Motorsport and we are all very proud to carry their logo.”

Together, We Progress Racing will next compete at Anglesey Circuit in the 750 Motor Club Club Enduro series three-hour race on the evening of Saturday 8 July.

The team aims to have two cars on the grid – a Mk1 and a Mk3 MX-5. Both are designed, built and run by the students and each will run as independent entries for the entire three hour race.

TWP Racing works with local and regional organisations to source materials, race entry fees and uniforms for all of its projects.
