Looking for something a bit different to do on Valentine’s Day? Then Wrexham’s drive-in cinema (with milkshakes and freshly made pizza) could be just for you!

Back due to popular demand, the Valentine’s Drive-In Cinema will arrive back in town on Sunday 11th February thanks to Wrexham County Borough Council.

It’s exactly a year since Wrexham played host its first drive-in cinema for Valentine’s Day – with the event proving so popular that a summer, Halloween and Christmas screenings were quickly organised.

Following the popularity of last year’s screenings, Wrexham Council’s events team have lined up another programme for 2018 starting with this romantic night next month.

Two cinematic favourites were voted for by the public on Facebook, with Disney’s live-action Beauty & the Beast, which was one of the highest grossing box office films of 2017, kicking off the Valentine’s Day celebrations with a screening at 5:15pm.

This is followed at 8.00pm with Ghost, the Demi Moore / Patrick Swayze love story which was a smash in the early 90’s.

Once again, the movie’s will take place on the Waterworld Car Park in town, with the events team are delighted to welcome Wrexham favourite “Woody’s Pizza Oven” who’ll be serving movie-goers throughout the evening, along with the Fizz Queen who’ll have in-car mocktails and romantic-themed milkshakes!

Ahead of tickets going on-sale, Joe Bickerton, Destination Manager at Wrexham Council said: “We’re thrilled to have the support to bring back the Valentine’s Drive-In movies next month.

“Our Christmas event worked really well in the town centre and was a hit with both the local community and visitors from as far as the midlands based on the ticket sale data.

“The events programme continues to get stronger each year and Wrexham’s reputation as a events destination can only benefit from this.”

Tickets go on-sale today (Monday 15th January) and can be purchased via at the This is Wrexham website or in person at the Tourist Information Centre on Queens Square.
