Thursday Public Sector Workers’ Strike Service Update

This afternoon Wrexham Council published details of how strike action tomorrow will affect their service provision.

The Council posted a notice saying “Wrexham Council services will be disrupted on Thursday 10th July due to a one day national strike by public sector workers. Many council buildings and offices will be closed with significant disruption to all services including schools.”

The following service will be available by telephone for urgent enquiries:

Adult Social Care – 292066
CCTV – 292089
Child Protection – 292039
Housing Options – 292947
Pride in Your Street – 298989
Environmental Health – 292040
Housing Repairs – 298993
Building Control/Emergency Planning – 298994
Contact Wrexham is likely to be closed. A limited service will be provided from the Guildhall for any urgent enquiries.

Several people have enquired about bins and waste collection, with the Council update stating : “There is likely to be significant disruption to waste collection services. We will make every effort to minimise this however, this may continue before the refuse and recycling collection service resumes to normal service delivery over the following two weeks.”

“Waste is unlikely to be collected on Thursday 10th July. Normal refuse & recycling collection will resume from Friday 11th July.”

“Waste which would have been collected on the 10th July will be collected on Thursday 24th July.”

“Civic amenity sites will be open to accept refuse and recycling as normal throughout this period.”

Leisure services are also affected, with Waterworld, Chirk, Gwyn Evans, Queensway and all Wrexham County Borough Council Leisure Centres including the dual use sites at Morgan Llwyd, Darland, Ruabon, Rhosnesni and Clywedog will be closed to the public.

All Wrexham County Borough Council Libraries and Community Resource Centres will also be closed to the public.
