Thousands Visit Coca-Cola Christmas Truck In Wrexham
Crowds gathered in Wrexham Town Centre today to catch a glimpse at the famous Coca-Cola Christmas Truck.
The festive Coca-Cola Truck rolled up in town at midday, with steady crowds visiting throughout the afternoon to have their photo taken with the truck and listen to festive carols.
Throughout the evening Queens Square got busier, with lots of parents and children enjoying the event. When we popped back to the event at 6pm there were large queues for the ‘sample’ cans of Coca Cola and even longer queues for photographs with the truck – with people queuing from the Queens Square Christmas Tree and towards Lord Street.
Unlike the infamous Coca-Cola Truck visit to Broughton last year, traffic in and around the town centre was relatively steady throughout the day – with no reports of traffic ‘chaos’, although a few cheeky visitors trying to park on and near Queens Square were moved on.
Generally the response to the event seems to be positive, with many getting in touch with Wrexham.com with their photos from the event. Some shops in the town centre also stayed open a little bit later, with a fair few shoppers sticking around to do some late night shopping. Below are just a few of the photos that we have been tweeted throughout the day.

Some were less impressed with the event, with some questioning why the truck was in town and what it has to do with Christmas. This debate is also ongoing on our Wrexham.com Forums, where the health benefits of the drink is questioned.

@wrexham Ridiculous, people waiting to see a bloody lorry! And in a separate queue to the van just to get a mini sized can of coke for free.

Others just took a more humorous approach to the arrival of the big red truck…

Pictured at the top is the Mayor Cllr Alan Edwards and Cllr Mark Pritchard the Leader of Wrexham Council by the coke van. The cans given out are miniatures, they are not giants.
The Mayor did say there are other products available…!
