The Streets of Wrexham to Come Alive With The Sound of Music!

The streets of the town centre will be alive with the sound of music this weekend when Wrexham plays host to its inaugural choir festival.

Throughout Saturday 24 September the talent of local and choirs from the surrounding areas will be celebrated at the first ‘Wrexham Singing Streets Choir Festival’.

The event, which is the first of its kind to take place in Wrexham will bring together over 25 choirs from Wrexham, North Wales and the North West of England for a day of live performances and entertainment.

Kicking off at 10am the choirs will perform individually at pop-up stages on Hope Street, Chester Street, Eagles Meadow and the Wrexham Museum.

The day will culminate at 3pm when the choirs will join together on Queen’s Square in what is sure to be a spectacular performance.

The event will coincide with the monthly Wrexham Street Festival, which see a host of stalls and family friendly activities take place across the town centre.

MP Ian Lucas, who is co-hosting the event with Wrexham Community Choir, has promised a ‘very special day for Wrexham’.

He said: “Wrexham Singing Streets is set to be the first choir festival that Wrexham has held.

“We have a strong choral tradition in North Wales, and I know some of our choirs have travelled to other festivals around the country.

“This festival will be bringing choirs to us and will be a very special day for Wrexham. Choirs from all walks of life will be singing on our streets and bringing more people in to our town.”
