A new exhibition bringing together nearly 200 vintage and current football shirts and football-inspired artwork has opened in Wrexham town centre.

‘The Heart on the Shirt’ is underway at Undegun and will run very Tuesday-Saturday from 11-4pm until Saturday, June 16th.

Created by local artist, Liam Stokes-Massey, the free exhibition will showcase nearly 200 vintage and current football shirts from around the world, kindly borrowed from members of the public.

Liam told us a little more about various events, and a tremendous end to the exhibition ( via VintageFootballShirts.com!) when we had a quick chat earlier today:

Over the three week period ‘Heart on the Shirt’ will host a selection of match worn shirts, including some match worn by Welsh footballing legend Mark Hughes, Jess Fishlock – the first Welsh player to reach 100 caps – and boasts an era-spanning collection of Wrexham shirts.

There is also be football-inspired artwork from twelve artists, both local and from afar.

Earlier today there was a preview performance from local playwright Peter Read’s touring play, ‘Garland or Me’ about the obsession that can grow from football when a husband is given an ultimatum by his wife – ‘football or me?’.

Throughout the exhibition there will be a craft table for children (and adults!) to design their own kits, which will then be hung on the wall in a Community Gallery.

On Saturday, June 9th, to celebrate Children’s Art Week 2018 local artist Sophia Leadill will be holding a free workshop from 1pm-3pm.

On the final Saturday local company vintagefootballshirts.com will be showing 100 of the most iconic and rare shirts.

You can visit ‘The Heart on the Shirt’ at Undegun (the former JJB on Regent Street) and it is open every Tuesday-Saturday from 11-4pm until Saturday, June 16th.
