The Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir will be performing at the William Aston Hall this November.

The choir will take to the stage at the venue on Friday November 8 at 7:30pm.

The choir was formed in 1946 when the people of Llangollen, as a gesture to International Peace, decided to ask former enemies, to come together in the friendly competitive atmosphere of a traditional Welsh Eisteddfod. Invitations went out for 1947 and the Llangollen International, Musical Eisteddfod was born.

The village decided that the Eisteddfod was a good idea and Mr Gomer Powell called a public meeting with the formation of a choir as the object. The Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir was formed at that meeting.

Now in its 66th year, the choir have achieved great success, winning competitions at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

The four ‘Voices of the Valley’ albums have also received nominations for the Classical Brits Album of the Year.

Joining the choir will be Rhys Meirion, who has performed with both the National and Welsh Opera and has performed around the world.

They will also be joined by Faryl Smith, who shot to fame after making it through the to final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.

Since then the 18-year-old has received nominations at the Classical Brit Awards and has performed at the Llangollen National Eisteddfod.

Choir liaison officer, Paul Wycherley said: “The choir have been as busy as ever this year with concerts all over the UK, and our Autumn programme is similarly hectic.

“However, our annual Wrexham concert is always one we really look forward to as its our “home” concert. We have booked some really popular artistes to make it a real night to remember.

Tickets are £12 and can be purchased from the William Aston Hall box office, the Tourist Information centre at Wrexham or from the choirs website.
