Temporary traffic lights have resulted in ‘gridlock’ in and around the Wrexham Maelor this afternoon – with some motorists stuck in traffic for over 30 minutes.

The four way temporary traffic lights were implemented on Croesnewydd Road earlier this morning and are part of the laying of a new power duct.

Across the day the traffic lights have caused issues and delays for motorists, with Chris O’Hanlon getting in touch with Wrexham.com earlier to say: “Temp lights on hospital roundabout. If still there at 5pm expect some serious traffic.”

While it’s not quite yet 5pm, traffic around the area is already building ahead of rush hour.

Leah Baines tweeted Wrexham.com the image featured above, saying: “Gridlocked in hospital carpark been waiting 30 mins so far just to pull out of parking space.”

Marie Gibson added: “It’s awful, the traffic lights on the roundabout causing total chaos. Avoid Maelor Hospital at all costs, traffic lights have brought car park and surrounding areas to a standstill.”

However the traffic and gridlock shows no sign of easing up soon – with the temporary traffic lights due to be in place until Monday 30th November!
