A 14 year old boy has been left fighting for his life at Alder Hey Hospital following a suspected assault at Coedpoeth Skate Park.

On Monday evening reports surfaced online of an incident as distressed youths were seen leaving the skate park between 7-8pm with several police cars in attendance.

Police confirmed that they had received a call at around 8.15pm and that a boy, named locally as Josh Lynch, had initially been rushed to Wrexham Maelor with serious head injuries before being transferred to a specialist unit at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.

They are currently speaking to another youth in connection with the incident.

Josh is believed to attend St Joseph’s Catholic and Anglican High School in Wrexham.

Several reports received to our Twitter account have suggested that he was hit over the head with a skateboard, although this has not been confirmed by police.

Police forensic officers were seen working at and around the cordoned off public toilet block near the skate park where an officer and car remained until past midnight.

UPDATE:
Police have confirmed this afternoon that Josh is in a stable condition and has regained consciousness, they added that they will question him once he is well enough.

Another teenager who was questioned in connection with the incident has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
