Teenage cyclist seriously injured following collision near Bellevue Park

A teenager has been seriously injured following a collision near a town centre park yesterday afternoon.

At 5pm on Thursday 19th July North Wales Police received a report by the ambulance service that a teenage cyclist had been injured following a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa on Bellevue Road.

The 15-year-old was taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hopsital by ambulance but has since been transferred to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool with serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

North Wales Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.

PC Kevin Dunning of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The Corsa was travelling down Bellevue Road towards Ruthin Road when the cyclist appeared from the opposite direction and collided with the car.

“We are appealing for any witnesses to please contact us as soon as possible.”

Anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen the car or bicycle traveling just prior to the collision, are asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit via the live web chat quoting reference number W100333.
