After concerns over sinister behaviour involving a black van in the Chirk area recently, a sighting of a vehicle has been cleared by police as having no involvement.

Police have said today that after an investigation by North Wales Police into the reports of a suspicious vehicle being sighted in the Chirk area in recent weeks has shown ‘that it was on legitimate business and that there are no suspicious circumstances relating to it’.

Sgt Darren Whibberley said: “I would like to reassure the community that we have looked into the matter thoroughly and are satisfied that the black van reported to us, and which has been the subject of concern on social media, is not connected to any sinister behaviour or to the appeal issued last month by West Mercia Police about a suspicious vehicle in Shropshire.

“I would like to thank the public for their vigilance and I would always encourage people to report suspicious behaviour to the police so we can establish the facts.”

A month ago police issued this sketch of someone they wished to trace, with another issue reported to them around 48 hours later.
