Around 20 students from Yale College will be pitching their ideas in the Dragons’ Den.

They will be joined by students from Deeside College and Glyndŵr University as well as real-life budding entrepreneurs from across the region. The second Dragons’ Den Cymru event will take place in Flintshire Connects Centre in Holywell on Wednesday 15th May 2013.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Enterprise and Leisure Councillor Peter Macfarlane said: “I would encourage anyone thinking of starting their own business to consider attending the Dragons’ Den Cymru event and joining the Flintshire Enterprise Club. Helping local people in their search for suitable employment in today’s job market is key to all round mutual success.”

The Career and Networking Event builds on the success of the Flintshire Business Entrepreneurship Network (BEN)’s Enterprise Club, brainchild of Askar Sheibani, Chair of the Deeside Enterprise Zone board and the Deeside Industrial Park Business Forum. Askar is the Welsh Government’s Business Entrepreneurship Champion and CEO of telecoms repair company Comtek.

Askar Shebani said: “The Welsh Government has chosen Flintshire as a pilot region for this forward-thinking scheme, and its support is enabling the community and council to invest in local young entrepreneurs. With the help of Flintshire Council, the Welsh Government, has recognised the importance of utilising existing local business leaders, to provide a support network to nourish such a raft of emerging talent in Flintshire.

The Flintshire Enterprise Club creates a rich environment where budding entrepreneurs can learn from the experience of those at the forefront of business and can be advised on how best to take advantage of opportunities. A pioneering scheme, this investment in the local community, will undoubtedly invigorate the local economy and society for years to come.”

Flintshire Enterprise Club is open to all ages, and anyone who has a desire to start their own business or a social enterprise is welcome to apply.
